At Marbella Golf & Countryclub, a 20 minutes’ drive from Ojén, there is a golf school with practice facilities . One of the pro’s , Stephane , has put together an attractive program to learn how to golf or to improve your golf game.

Stephgolfacademy

Stephane is a French international PGA Pro with 15 years of experience in teaching golf. After playing in the PGA tour for three years he decided to take the way of teaching. Stephane can teach in French, English and Spanish.

Prices for participation for 2 people

1 day introduction for 2 persons from 10:00 to 13:00 : € 150.00 for 2 persons. Includes balls and clubs, putting, short and long game.

3 day course from 10:00 to 12:00 ( total 6 hours ), days of your choice , for 2 persons         € 300.00.  Includes balls and clubs, putting , short and long game, video analysis.

5 day course from 10:00 to 12:00 ( 10 hours total ), for 2 persons : € 550.00
From Monday to Friday or starting on another day . Includes balls and clubs, putting, short and long game, video analysis and playing 9 holes with the pro on the last day.

Price for group lessons

Introduction for a group, 3 to 6  people. For more people, € 10 extra per person.

Balls not included ,clubs included. For 1 hour , practicing the swing € 70.00 per group

For 5 hours , € 250.00. Practicing the swing , short and long game and driver

From beginner to player : Learn the basics of the golf swing , short game and putting.

Players with handicaps between 36 and 10 : Improve all aspects of the game and putting, playing of nine holes at the end of the course .

Special program for players with a single handicap. Mental preparation, pre-shots routine, swing vision and changes.

Greenfees if you like to play every day

When you like to play often,  at different courses, there are  attractive offers and monthly rates for unlimited play of the 18-hole courses (with or without buggy) .

If you prefer to play on different courses , you can join Golf The Costa for € 20.00. Your membership card offers attractive green fees at many courses.

The La Posada del Angel hotel offers attractive opportunities in the Winter months to stay in Spain for a longer period of time. Anyway, you still have the benefit of the owners, who can provide you with all kinds of information. You also have the coziness of the village around the corner, which is just fifteen minutes away from Marbella. Also, in the Winter months, you can witness the Spanish life in here.

Overwintering in Spain

Sunny Winter

During the Winter months you have a lot of chance of finding a nice spring weather in the Costa del Sol. When the Sun shines during the day it soon gets from 18 to 20 degrees. The nights are colder, but the average is rarely  colder than 8 degrees. Each day, there is an average of 5 or 6 hours of sun and when it rains, it is usually for a few days and then the sun comes out again.

Hotel room

Your room has a double bed with warm duvets, one bathroom with shower, one kitchenette with a fridge, a tea and coffee maker and a microwave. It also has satellite TV with international channels, air conditioning with heating and free WIFI .

Hotel Facilities

The hotel has two patios and a roof terrace where you can have a sunbath during the day. There is also a honesty bar where you will find cold drinks, a lobby with a computer with internet access available for guests and a selection of books. You can also cook your own meals at the guest kitchen, and if you have any question you can go to the reception desk, where we can also book tickets, green fees, etc. Furthermore,  the owners live next door.

Unfortunately, the air-conditioned pool will be closed during the winter (but not before the 1st December) because of some necessary licenses and adjustments that have to be made ​​.

Service

Once a week, your room will be cleaned and the sheets will be replaced by new ones, and you will have clean towels twice a week. On the other hand, you can have breakfast at the hotel (for a fee ) or at the town square. The bakery and a small supermarket can be found around the corner. There is also a big shopping center just 10 minutes away driving from the town. Besides, we are looking for a laundry service in the village.

Prices and duration of overwintering in Andalucia

The price for a 2 week stay (minimum stay) is € 700.00. You can extend your stay for € 350 per week. The room is suitable for 2 people.
The offer applies to the period from the 1st November to the 15th December 2013 and from the 24th January to late March 2014.

Winter-Activities

There is a lot to do in the neighborhood: For example, behind Ojen, there is a beautiful area for hiking through the mountains. Furthermore, Ojen is a wonderful base for visiting major cities such as Granada, Seville and Cordoba and make day trips to Malaga, Ronda and the Costa de la Luz. Andalusia offers beautiful places to ride and on sunny days it can be lovely on the beach and the restaurants are open for lunch. But also a day of skiing is possible since Sierra Nevada is a 2 ½ hour drive .

In addition, there are also many golf courses near Ojen. From mid-November to mid-March is low season, which means that you can find attractive green fees . The Santa Clara Golf School (20 minute drive), have a program for both starters and experienced players to know golf or to improve your skills. They also have a special Winter offer .

When was the birth of your Grandma and what you were saying the middle name of the paternal grandfather was? Are your children actually vaccinated against yellow fever?

These are not really the asked questions when you apply for a new water connection but they almost are, trust us. And sometimes it can be a waste of time. The business and the paperwork in Spain remains a challenge we can get used to… but with difficulty. There are new offices that want to have all of the information you can think of. Fortunately, Helga has more patience with everything related to paperwork than Ton. Eventually, you have to follow the flow.

Hotel

It is early July and the Summer has finally come to Ojen. Temperatures are around 30 degrees and that will not change for the next two months. Furthermore, La Posada del Angel has had a formidable Spring and we are happy for that. From Semana Santa in March we have been really busy with our hotel: always a lot of rooms occupied and many of our guests found our hotel via the familiar booking engines such as “Eliza was here” and, fortunately, via our website.  What a difference from last year when we were in the middle of remodelling!

Our guests come from nearly everywhere. About 40% are Dutch, followed by about 25% who are Spanish. The rest of the guests come from England, USA, France, Austria, Russia, China, etc., etc.

The pool appears to be a good attraction for our hotel, although it doesn’t seem to be the place to camp out all day lying on a bed next to it (we don’t have them). But it is a possibility to refresh after a nice day at the beach, hiking or golfing, with or without a cool drink afterwards.

Summer

The rest of the Summer looks very busy too, especially in August, when there are quite a few days “sold out”, while the phone starts to ring for September. The Summer occupation is fine thanks to the constant presence of “trainees” from the Netherlands. Currently, Chrissie and Charlotte help us with daily affairs. They also put together activities that our guests can take. For example, today they have gone for an extra hike of about 2 ½ hours (we hope so, otherwise we will send the dog handler off) from Ojen. And yesterday, they made a challenging kind of sport using a GPS (Geocaching), in which you can find scattered treasures everywhere. From now on we have a GPS and a basic explanation available for our guests. And those searching for days with more tension can visit El Camino del Rey, a more inland walking/climbing activity.

Juan

For quite some time we were looking for help throughout the year. Last month we found it. Juan, a 24-year-old Spaniard from Marbella. Not only is Juan very excited about it but he also finds the hotel very nice and he speaks fluent English too. Now, he helps us to communicate with the Spanish authorities, which makes everything a lot faster and more efficient.

The boys and us

The 11-week holiday has started. For a week, we went to Portugal, to Lisbon and to the coast to have some fun together (our hotel was in good hands). After our arrival, we received the final school reports. We are very happy and very proud but we were hardly surprised by the reports of Jochem. For the third time in a row, it was all purely SBs (“sobresaliente”, which means from 9 to 10). Next year, he is going to stay in the following group, but he is also going to take some lessons from the higher level.  Now he is taking English lessons every day during a month at an English language school in Marbella. The surprise this year came from Siebe: after a year of very hard work, lots of extra homework and daily attention, specially Helga, he ended the year with a stunning report: everything was satisfactory, including Spanish, and even four 8’s. Now Siebe visits a local summer school: together with friends, they swim, play and do crafts. A great program in our fight against the I-pads and TV.

With the arrival of Juan, we get some more air and it is sometimes possible to get away together to go play golf together or just to do something different. We also made a number of trips last Spring, and thanks to that we are able to share with our guests these experiences. We cycled in a beautiful nature on an old railway line (Via Verde) near Ronda and then we made a trip from Tarifa to Seville. That’s the nice thing about living here: we gradually get to know the area better. These discoveries and other news are posted regularly on Facebook by us.
